Uchi, a renowned sushi restaurant in Dubai, welcomes patrons to indulge in the finest Japanese cuisine in Dubai. More than a name, Uchi encapsulates a feeling of home, a sense of belonging intricately woven into every aspect of the restaurant creating an extraordinary space where savoring culinary experiences meets soulful connections.

Here, every visit is a journey, every dish an exploration, and every moment a celebration.

Uchi’s story is anchored in the dreams of its founder, Carole Moawad. What started as a carefully cultivated childhood aspiration has blossomed into Uchi’s reality. Carole’s purpose remains steadfast – to turn everyday moments into joyous celebrations. With a belief that each day holds the potential for extraordinary experiences.

The head chef, Ciprian Porumbacean, is a culinary virtuoso with 14 years of expertise spanning European, Mediterranean, and Japanese Fusion Cuisine. Ciprian’s journey began in his family’s restaurant, where his love for food took root. Guided by a fervent devotion to Japanese philosophy, Ciprian’s passion and persistence shine through in every meticulously crafted dish.

Uchi’s sophisticated beverage offerings are orchestrated by, Nana Sechere who brings humility and an insatiable thirst for knowledge to his craft. His journey from hospitality to beverage education under award-winning bartender Kaitlin Wilkes Back has been driven by an unyielding commitment to growth. With a love for whisky and premium drinks, Nana introduces Japanese Whisky service rituals, adding a layer of sophistication and celebration to Uchi’s offerings.

Uchi’s interior, designed by Studio M, is an embodiment of human experience and enjoyable living. With a focus on authenticity, the Uchi space speaks to the senses and resonates with emotions. Unique materials such as Mappa Burl veneer, Rosewood, and Emerald Green Quartzite converge to complement Uchi’s culinary fusion.

Mappa Burl veneer, once prominent during the 60s and 70s, graces the wall paneling, skirting, and cabinetry, boasting a natural yet refined appearance. Its versatility effortlessly bridges the gap between contemporary and traditional design aesthetics. With a palette of warm, rich tones ranging from delicate caramel to deep mahogany, it conjures the exquisite hues found in fine Whiskey’s color spectrum.

Crafted from the rare and distinguished Rosewood, the bar tops and dining tables exude elegance. Revered for its scarcity and unique grain pattern, Rosewood has a longstanding tradition of being used to fashion exceptional furniture pieces and exquisite musical instruments.

A Brazilian stone, Emerald Green Quartzite commands attention with its jungle green backdrop, accentuated by intricate veins of plum and brown that bestow depth and character upon its surface.

In the realm of significant furnishings, vintage Grande Mania Sconces by Vico Magistretti for Artemide illuminate the Restaurant/Bar area with their comforting glow. Dating back to the 1960s, these sconces, fashioned from opaline glass, exude an inviting aura, cocooning the restaurant/bar.

Uchi’s highlight are ten iconic vintage chairs, masterfully designed in 1965 by the esteemed duo Tobia & Afra Scarpa for Cassina. Emblematic of mid-century design’s zenith, these chairs are a testament to Scarpa’s unparalleled artistic vision. Their presence within the space serves as both a tribute to and an appreciation of design classics, granting guests an unforgettable and immersive dining experience.

Uchi’s timeless elegance is a result of meticulous attention to detail.

The brand identity, Uchi’s face to the world, was meticulously developed by 1/one over, a brand design and development studio nestled in the heart of San Francisco. Their approach creates a visual and tactile journey that captures the essence of Uchi, creating a lasting impression that lingers long after the meal ends.
